FIRST NATIONAL BIKE SAFETY CAMPAIGN IN MORE THAN A DECADE

To ensure this Summer and festive season are safe for everyone, some of the nation’s highest profile road safety crusaders are joining forces for a major awareness campaign targeting bike-riders and skaters.

Royal Children’s Hospital, Sydney Children’s Hospital, Rosebank Helmets and the Amy Gillett Foundation are launching a joint bike safety campaign urging young riders to protect their heads.

Traditionally, the months of December, January and February are the highest risk period for cycling injuries requiring medical attention.

As part of the national campaign, a bike safety education kit will be available free-of-charge to every primary school across the country to teach young riders necessary skills and detection of dangers through engaging classroom and practical activities. In addition to targeting rider safety, the kit also covers environmental issues and encourages physical activity – an increasingly important message in light of concerns over child obesity in Australia.

Despite a dramatic drop in injuries since compulsory helmet-wearing was introduced in the early 1990’s, more than 2,600 Australian children are hospitalised, and 20 acquire serious brain injury due to bike accidents each year.

Please download your free safety kit below by clicking on the thumbnails. It has been divided into three sections to ease downloading speed.

Working with organisations including police, roads authorities, health organisations, and bicycle education groups, Rosebank leads the way in promoting safety within the community. Rosebank is also a proud sponsor of Kidsafe - the Child Accident Prevention Foundation of Australia. Through Kidsafe and in partnership with the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, Rosebank can work directly with the community stakeholders and experts alike, in analysing and reducing injuries and fatalities in kids.

A crucial area indeed, particularly given that for children, cycling accidents rate as one of the highest causes for hospital admissions. Did you know that cycling fatalities amongst have almost halved since wearing of helmets became mandatory back in 1990.

Australian Standards...

is the only choice when selecting a helmet

When it comes to cycling safety, we’re committed to helmet safety at Rosebank. That’s why we won’t compromise when it comes to certification, and we only supply helmets that have the 5 ticks, the sign of certification by SAI Global. The SAI Global Product Compliance Program ensures that every batch of helmets is tested before they are released into the marketplace, unlike most overseas standards.

So you can wear our helmets with confidence and enjoy the ride knowing that we are looking out for you.

Helmet of choice

At Rosebank we take our helmets seriously. Our helmets are made from start to finish within our state of the art manufacturing plant in Hallam, Victoria. Designed, manufactured and tested on-site under the strict requirements of the Australian Standard and the SAI Global Product Compliance Program, Rosebank even has it’s own NATA certified laboratory.

Rosebank is Australia’s trusted helmet brand, so parents, children, commuters and cycling enthusiasts alike, can all benefit from high quality, comfortable and fashionable products. Even our Police Force wears Rosebank as the helmet of choice.

Revisions to Helmet Regulations

In late 1999, the Federal Treasury revised the Trade Practices regulation to allow the entry of helmets that meet the American Snell B95 standard, along with updating the regulation in line with the latest AS/NZS2063 Australian Standard.

When purchasing an AS/NZS 2063 approved helmet, you are buying a certified product where each batch of helmets manufactured has been tested to meet a stringent performance standard. In addition, the manufacturing site is regularly audited by a member of SAI Global Product Certification team to ensure that the helmets are made in a controlled environment.

Cyclists need to ensure that the helmet they purchase can legally be worn on public roads. Vic Roads and RTA-NSW specify that helmets must meet the AS/NZS2063 Pedal Cycle helmet standard. Most other Australian states have similar requirements. For further details, please check with your states relevant roads authority.
